An excerpt from Take Every Thought to Prayer – Volume 2 – Prayers to Love Our Neighbor

Dear Father, my loved one is in a drug and alcohol addiction recovery home. Thank You that they are safe. They are not on the street. They have a bed and a roof over their head. They have meals. Father, I pray that they will commit themselves to the entire recovery process. – Keep them sober and drug free. – Help them to take full advantage of the counseling, medical, vocational, and transitional services offered by the recovery home. – May they be committed to individual and group counseling that helps them rebuild their life. – I pray You will protect them from those in the home who are not committed to recovery. – I pray they will enjoy relationships in the home with those who will hold them accountable. – I pray You will bless their dedication to work and that they will earn the money they need to pay the monthly rent. – I ask that one day they will transition into their own place where they can enjoy independence and responsibility. – I pray that they will become a success story for this recovery home. – I pray that there will not be a relapse and that they can fight that urge to turn to drugs and alcohol for salvation when they are weak. Father, the truth of the matter is that it is essential that they surrender their lives to You. They need to confess their rebellion and repent. The Holy Spirit needs to come into their heart and give them the character traits required for recovery: – Courage to let go of their past – Hope for the future – Faith You will change their life – Perseverance to overcome the sufferings that will help them grow. Please bless this recovery home and may they truly change lives by Your power, grace, and wisdom. Amen.
