#425 – May I Never Judge those who Suffer

An excerpt from Take Every Thought to Prayer – Volume 1 – Prayers to Love God

Dear Father, it says in Your Word that we are to be perfect. What? That’s impossible. I couldn’t be perfect if my life depended on it. I couldn’t be perfect if my eternity depended on it. Father, I know my heart enough to know my natural desire is to rebel against You. Unless I’m totally focused on obedience to You, I will rebel. I know I make mistakes as a human being all the time, many unintentional. Perfection is impossible. If we are going to strive to please You by our own effort, we must be perfect. Flawless. Stainless. If we are going to strive to please You by our own effort, we will fail. Therefore, we need a stand-in. A substitute. Someone who can be perfect for us. Jesus Christ. He is perfect and He takes our place before You if we have asked Him to do so. Jesus says to You: Father, John or Mary asked me to represent them before You. Because I am perfect and they have placed their trust in me, they are perfect too. Welcome them into Your Kingdom. Father, thank You for knowing I can’t be perfect. Thank You for providing a perfect substitute for me, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He makes me perfect. Amen.
