Dear Father, my life has no meaning. I’m drifting. I’m bored. Why am I here? What is my purpose? I go through the motions every day. Get up. Get dressed. Eat breakfast. Go to work. Get yelled at by my boss or by customers. Come home. Eat dinner. Watch TV. Go to bed. Day after day. Week after week. Month after month. I want my life to mean something. Give me a cause. Give me an ambition. Give me a goal. Give me a passion. Energize me about a movement. Help me to get pumped up to fight against a wrong in my community. Help me to save people’s lives. Father, I could do all kinds of noble deeds but still miss the target. I could be praised and honored in society for good deeds but still not be right with You. Why? Because Your number one purpose for my life is for me to honor Jesus Christ. I am to reflect Him and His character. If I do all kinds of good things but I do so for my own honor, You will not reward me. My life will not have meaning. People are given inspiration by You for one purpose – to draw people’s eyes to the glory, majesty, greatness, and glory of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Father, make that my inspiration. Make that my driving ambition. These other things will follow. You desire to honor the man or woman who desires to honor Your Son. Why? To inspire others to do the same. I will find my place in life when, and only when, I make it my business to live as an illustration of the character of Jesus Christ. Amen.
