Dear Father, Sarah Jeong, 30, is an American journalist who writes about IT law and technology. She has published a non-fiction book about online harassment. In 2013 and 2014, Sarah, a native South Korean, tweeted derogatory tweets about white people. Those tweets resurfaced when she was recently invited to join The New York Times editorial board. Many conservatives have protested the invitation, claiming it is evidence of a double standard in the media where derogatory statements against white people are permitted when similar statements against minorities are vilified. Sarah has claimed her tweets, which she deleted, were in response to online harassment she was experiencing. Father, I take advantage of her being in the news to lift her up to You. Lead her to a personal relationship with You. Give her Your abundant compassion, mercy, and grace. Orchestrate an encounter with Your love that changes her life. Give her a testimony of who You are that inspires others to seek You. I ask that one day she will be thanking You for all Your goodness to her. Amen.
Dear Father, Rob Reiner, 71, is the son of Carl Reiner, a famous comedian, actor, and director in Hollywood since the 1950s. Rob became famous when he starred as Michael Stivic, “Meathead”, the liberal son-in-law of Archie Bunker on All in the Family. The show was the most popular show on television in the 1970s and led to Rob winning two Emmy Awards. Rob went on to become a successful movie director, directing such hits as “When Harry Met Sally”, “A Few Good Men”, “The Princess Bride”, and “The Bucket List”. Rob, the father of four and a grandfather of five, is an advocate for programs to foster early childhood development. Rob has used his fame to become an activist for liberal and progressive causes. He has been an avid supporter of the Democratic Party and their candidates, including Al Gore and Hillary Clinton. He is in the news because of his frequent opposition to President Donald Trump. Father, You created Rob. You desire a relationship with him. Father, do a miraculous work in his life. Turn him into an ambassador for Jesus Christ. Use his talents and influence to encourage others to find peace and joy through Your Son Jesus Christ. Amen.
Dear Father, Alex Jones, 44, is a radio host and conspiracy theorist based out of Austin, TX. His show, The Alex Jones Shows, has millions of listeners. His website, www.infowars.com, reportedly has over 10 million visitors a month. His popularity is attributed to his belief that many of the tragedies that have occurred in the news were staged by the government. For example, he has denied that anyone was killed in the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown, CT. He has also claimed that the U.S. government was responsible for both the Oklahoma City bombing and September 11. He has expressed his belief that the landings on the moon by the Apollo astronauts was fake. He has shared his belief that there is a campaign against whites and that the government has weather weapons. President Trump has complimented him for his show’s success, leading many to believe Alex is influential on the president’s policies. His views have led him to be the defendant in a variety of lawsuits. He is in the news because Facebook, YouTube, Sticher Radio, and Apple have all taken steps in the past two weeks to remove his content from the Internet. This has led many to claim censorship against viewpoints that are not liberal and progressive. Father, Alex is passionate. He is searching for meaning and understanding. He is trying to make sense of this world. His search has impacted thousands of lives. Father, give him THE Answer he is looking for. May everything make sense once he understands the gospel of Jesus Christ. I ask that the world will see a change in him as he shows a new heart of contentment that comes from knowing You are sovereign over all the things he fears. Amen.
